Young Galah Portrait

This painting is done in gouache, which is an opaque watercolour medium that allows for these striking illustrative artworks.

There's always a little bit of difficulty in capturing the nature of our parrots in a flat 2D painting, but I tried my best here to portray a mischievous, loud young galah. Its colours are still not as vibrant as its parents, but you can easily imagine it rolling with its siblings on the ground, tearing at grass or bits of bark for fun. I love these birds.

The cotton paper is deckled on the bottom edge, adding to the rustic nature of the painting.

This would look great in a white frame with white matting.
