Artwork Description

The last ferry by  Lana Alsamir-Diamond - constantly dreaming of faraway places, the restraint needed to create the artist's more minimal works sometimes gently gives way to equally minimal but more figurative works, the Architecture, Colours and memories of star gazing under towering mediterranean palm trees, are a constant in her works.

The last ferry is a metaphor for living life to the fullest.

Original artwork: Acrylic on hand made cotton paper, with deckled edges in natural colour.

Colours, Blues and Greens.

Although all care has been taken, In situ images are for display purposes and may not be a true representation of size listed.

Artist Bio

A Sydney based Artist, made her way here via Product Design.

Alsamir-Diamond's work is graphic minimal yet bold, work that is very personal and reminiscent of the Artist’s life, packed with cultural influences and references.

Silhouettes and composition are the primary interest of the work, a sensitivity for negative space, creates the perfect ground work for colour, that is almost a distraction to the artist but a very welcome one.
"I feel my work is very intuitive and involves a fair amount of restraint, for that reason I sometimes find myself producing work that involves more figurative elements, it is almost an instinctive need to be in control, I love the dialogue that two of my pieces can have in the same space. "
