Tasmanian visual artist Lana Nelson works in a variety of media including photography, printmaking, digital drawing, hand made papers and most recently paintings in oils. Lana is a predominantly self taught artist and recurring themes in her work include concepts of nurture and relationships between people, places, objects and time. The richly diverse coastal and forest environs of her island home provide the inspiration, context and subject of her work. Lana's explorations of local environments include considerations of time, flora, fauna, micro and macro views above and below the surface of place , often blurring the boundaries between reality and abstraction, past and present, art and science. Her work has been exhibited in multiple group, solo and juried exhibitions in Tasmania
