Eye of the beholder

This painting is part of a series inspired by the amazing rock formations found in Monument Valley and the National Parks of south west USA. Its rich red and ochre earthy colours bring warmth to a room, and work perfectly with other neutral tones, or as a vibrant contrast against cooler blues and greys. The painting surface is textured, capturing the essence of the rock formations.

I'm a Melbourne based artist, and I create contemporary landscapes and abstract art inspired by the colours and textures of nature.

I love the Australian landscape. I take much of my inspiration from the colours and textures of this amazing country I call home: the rich red soil, the bright yellow wattle, the endless blue skies, the olive greens of the bush.

I've lived on three continents and my family is widely dispersed. This influences my work, which explores connections - what it means to call a place home, what it feels like to belong.

My work captures the experience of being in a place - the sights, sounds, and feelings that it evokes. I love working with acrylics and mixed media as they help me capture the energy of a place and respond quickly when inspiration strikes.
