Artwork Description

The final piece in my three-piece series from 2024, Sand and Skyline captures the evolving face of StKilda as seen from the beach; Ochre sands dominate the foreground, rendered with textured brushwork that conveys warmth and movement. Beyond the shoreline, the low-rise rooftops are visible as they stretch across the middle ground, their modest scale and earthy tones evoking the suburb's historic character. Rising behind them is a cluster of modern high-rises, their verticality and reflective surfaces contrasting sharply with the architecture below, signalling progress and change. Executed in a modern impressionist style, the painting balances realism and some deliberate abstraction of shapes. The result is both celebratory and contemplative: a portrait of a beloved Melbourne suburb caught between nostalgia and transformation.

Artist Bio

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile.

My journey into art began in 2019, during a time when the world slowed down and many of us had a chance to reflect on what truly matters. For me, it all started with a simple book that encouraged drawing and painting from observation. What began as an experiment quickly turned into a passion. I started with charcoal and pencil sketches—portraits and still life—and soon found myself exploring acrylics and oils. The moment I picked up a brush, something clicked. Creating art became more than a hobby; it felt like a calling.

I’m a self-taught artist, with no formal training—just a deep curiosity and a drive to create. The only early artistic influence in my life was my grandmother, who began painting in her seventies as a way to cope with the loss of my young niece. Her story reminds me that it’s never too late to start something meaningful.

Originally from Budapest, Hungary, I moved to Australia as a teenager. My work is often shaped by both these cultures, and the places and people I’ve encountered along the way. I don’t follow a strict process or plan what to paint ahead of time. Inspiration strikes in a moment—whether it’s an urban landscape, a fleeting feeling, or a piece of modern design—and I follow that impulse straight to the canvas.

My style leans toward modern impressionism, and I’m constantly experimenting, letting curiosity guide me. I aim to create pieces that evoke a sense of beauty, calm, and reflection—offering a glimpse into the way I see the world, with a contemporary twist.

Thank you again for stopping by. I hope my work speaks to you in a way that words sometimes can’t.
