Artwork Description

This painting explores the idea of inner worlds carried quietly beneath the surface. The figure appears contemplative and grounded, yet the presence of the koi fish emerging from the beard suggests hidden narratives, memories, or fragments of identity that exist alongside the visible self.

Artist Bio

Laura is a contemporary Australian artist whose work explores emotional landscapes, inner worlds, and imagined futures through expressive painting. Working across abstraction and figurative forms, she is drawn to the tension between vulnerability and possibility.

Her recent practice explores themes of Near Utopian Futures, collective imagination, and humanity’s relationship with nature, systems, and transformation. Inspired by coastlines, dream states, speculative futures, and emotional memory, Laura creates immersive visual environments that sit somewhere between real and imagined worlds. Through layered colour, gesture, and atmosphere, her paintings invite viewers to reflect on what future worlds could feel like emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Alongside her artistic work, Laura works within social innovation and systems thinking, which informs her curiosity about human behaviour, societal change, and the futures we collectively create. These influences shape her artistic perspective, encouraging work that opens questions rather than offering fixed interpretations.
