Artwork Description

Putting this together was cathartic and encouraging for both my heart and head. This was not so much a deep-sea exploration but a view from above looking over. Perhaps the use of the rust colour was inspired by a conversation I'd had about Port Hedland the day before? Or perhaps a need to extract me and look from a different angle? Either way, it seems I'm continuing with a constant theme and limited pallette.

This art work was shown at the Beverley Station Easter Art Prize Exhibition back in April 2021 and then the South Perth Emerging Artist Award Exhibition in October 2021.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist from Fremantle, Western Australia. Many of these paintings and drawings were done while studying at the David Giles Freedom School, where I have been growing my skills since 2017.

I have nurtured my creativity since childhood, and have pursued my artistic passion though graphic design, multimedia, film, and blogging, as well as studying media at Murdoch University; all while trying to find the perfect outlet for my experiences, expressing my past, and finding my future. After travelling the world and residing in London for a few years, I returned home more lost than ever, seeking something to guide me. Visual art has become this guide.

The pieces you see here all have their unique stories, telling you the thoughts and moments in a life I have experienced. I wanted to embrace the beauty and mystique of the everyday after overcoming the adversity of my past and I found this the best way possible with using paint and pastel. These pieces follow many threads of my life with an eclectic use of colour and brush work in the abstract and Impressionist style.
