Artwork Description

This painting began with a simple idea: to create a striking face. The first sketch was drawn in my sketchbook while I was on a flight, where I experimented with different colour combinations before translating the concept onto canvas.

The figure evolved into a mysterious, almost magical entity from a futuristic or parallel reality. Inspired by neon aesthetics, cyberpunk atmospheres and fantasy worlds, the work explores themes of power, energy and mysticism.

Bold colour contrasts were intentionally used to direct the viewer’s attention to the face, creating a strong focal point and an intense presence.

The artwork is hand painted with acrylic on a 40 x 60 cm stretched canvas and took approximately 31 hours to complete. It is sealed with Basic Acrylic matte varnish to protect the surface and preserve the colours over time.

Artist Bio

Laura Schiavinato is a Brazilian contemporary artist exploring feminine archetypes through surreal portraiture. Working across acrylic, gouache and digital media, she creates striking female figures defined by strong gazes, symbolic details and subtle otherworldliness.

Blending softness with attitude, her work moves between fantasy, mysticism and contemporary culture. Each character exists as an alter ego, powerful, introspective and slightly untamed, inviting viewers into immersive dreamlike worlds where femininity feels both intimate and formidable.
