This painting is part of my ongoing series "Brasil com S", where I explore everyday scenes that capture the essence of Brazilian lifestyle and culture. The image was inspired by a photograph I connected with personally, as it reflects a moment I have experienced many times throughout my life.
The composition focuses on a cropped figure, removing identity to bring attention to the details that define the scene. The hand became a central element in the process, as I was particularly drawn to capturing its gesture and subtle realism. The combination of sunlit skin, denim and a cold beer creates a familiar and intimate atmosphere.
The colour palette was intentionally chosen to evoke the heat of Brazil, using warm yellow tones contrasted with the refreshing presence of an ice-cold beer, which inspired the title of the piece, "Gelada".
Blending realism with a slightly stylised approach, the work sits between observation and memory, capturing a moment of warmth, comfort and everyday simplicity.
