Urban King

While walking our kelpie dog around our neighbourhood I often see the local cats, perched up high, looking majestic (without even trying), sometimes indifferent, sometimes cheeky and playful. This painting is based on one of these beautiful cats. Despite physically evolving over 25 million years ago from their big cat ancestors, in some ways they are still the same regal animal, hence the title that I chose, "Urban King".

Ever since I can remember I have been enchanted by both the fine arts and animals, both big and small.

Having been born in Western Australia, I am currently based in Subiaco, a suburb close to Perth. Having spent many years working in the Veterinary industry, volunteering for various animal welfare and rescue agencies, and always having my own little menagerie of animals, I feel that my artworks reflects my passion for animals. I primarily work with acrylic paints, water colour and ink on cotton, linen and wood. I make sure to use the finest quality materials, using Australian made products as much as possible.
