A controversial and conversational piece. Eating these biscuits as a child I had no idea the racist connotations they held, they were simply delicious chocolate biscuits. The golliwog characters stare out at the viewer, challenging them to come to a pragmatic conclusion by reconciling the good and bad history behind these iconic biscuits.
Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking is a digitally created artwork by me that has been professionally printed on a plastic composite and housed in an aluminum frame. These surfaces are lightweight, durable and easy to clean. I have then embellished the artwork where necessary using oil paint to add depth and interest.
I enjoy using digital media to create artworks that are crisp and bright, and combining this with oil paint to create something truly unique.
My Once Upon A Table series was exhibited in December of 2022 at the Warwick Art Gallery in QLD.
The series features iconic, nostalgic Australian foods captured in a bright and humorous pop art style. The series was born during the Covid pandemic and lockdown, and was intended to give a spark of joy and laughter for the viewer, reminding them that times do change but the Australian spirit of mirth and resilience does not.
