Against the typical nature of my practice, I occasionally choose “normal” subjects - not that the Australian Kookaburra is anything but extraordinary in it’s looks and personality.
I have created a contemporary/ pop art style eucalyptus and magnolia flower background that subtly blends into its double. Using painterly strokes and exaggerating pops of colour, Mr K looks up haughtily with his chest puffed out, perhaps ready for his next cackle.
I’m not usually a “pretty flowers and birds” artist but I am passionate about our great land and the unique flora and fauna that makes Australia, Australia. I have tried to omit my usual dry humour and sarcasm by creating a work that gives style and regality to a subject I am quite fond of.
Upon purchase of this artwork it will be printed on museum grade paper using highly pigmented inks full of depth and colour (Giclee). My handwritten signature will reside in a 10mm border around the artwork, which can be included in the framing or covered up. I never reprint my digital artworks, so this artwork is exclusively yours. This is an A1 size and is easily framed.
