Currently being based in the Maitland area of the Hunter Region of NSW, I have been producing artwork since my early teens. My commitment to that form of creativity growing in strength with my years. My interests and study led me into experimenting with various methods and materials to produce my work. Acrylic paints on canvas and graphite or charcoal drawing on cartridge paper being my go-to mediums for a good amount of my work.
After Completing my diploma in Arts Fashion at Hornsby TAFE, I progressed towards achieving my degree, with honours, in Fine Art and Visual Culture in 2023, through Curtin University, WA. With my artwork I examine and illustrate the various aspects of life and my environment that hold my interest. Perhaps as a form of understanding the questions that may arise, or to express my attraction to the mystery or beauty I see in the subject presented. The content of my paintings develops and varies to include my focus towards animal welfare, wildlife preservation, social environment and their complexities.
Currently my work is pivoted around my perception of the ambiguity and wonder of the Australian bush, "the scrub", the landscape. Over the years my interest has been a progression of experimentation with ideas and mediums, stopping intermittently to delve further into a concept that has grabbed my attention. In doing so I produce sketches and undertake research into the questions associated with each idea.
The realisation of my wish to have an individual studio space, away from distractions, where I can work, explore, and evaluate ideas and techniques is something I would like to see realised in my near future.
