Artwork Description

Dust to Gold Diptych is part of the Faux series, inspired by marble, agate and semi precious stones. This stunning artwork details a gold highlighted slab of marble.

It can also be viewed as an "aerial of a earthy desert or landscape" with mountains and ravines.

Each canvas measures 40.5cm high x 122cm long - with a 6cm gap the entire length is 250cm.
This artwork has areas of raised texture - visible in the detail shots.
The colours are a creamy beige, tan, ochre, deep brown, black and white. There is shimmering metallic gold leaf and a darker "old' gold metallic paint - both which change in the light from a bright gold to a deep burnished brass or "old gold" depending on the light.

This artwork is stretched and ready to hang.
The painting flows over the edge. It can be hung either way - portrait or horizontal.
Each canvas measures 40.5cm high x 122cm long - with a 6cm gap the entire length is 250cm - if hung vertically the height is 122cm and the width is 85cm with a 4cm gap.

Artist Bio

Australian artist Laurie Franklin (b. 1981) is an established, internationally collected painter known for her layering of paint and mixed media to create tactile works ranging from mountains, seascapes to florals and abstracted forms.

Laurie has sold 1000s of artworks since starting painting in 2002, artwork is displayed in hotels, restaurants and held collections in over 20 countries. Past hotel projects have included 200m of hand painted wallpaper and hundreds of original artworks for hotel suites.

Based in Melbourne, Australia she works from a large studio space allowing several artworks to be worked on simultaneously. She travels and undertakes Art residencies around the world, the changing scenery influences her unique approach to capturing the intrinsic character of the landscape . Her gestural style, tight color palette and use of metallic elements create tactile, intriguing artworks.
