Artwork Description

This artwork is painted in a pearlised cobalt blue paint - as a result the colour will change in different lighting. There is a soft shimmer like a pearl and as you walk pas the art it will change from a light cobalt blue to a darker tone.

Fire Wheel in Blue is part of the Native Flora series and this artwork is study in a beautiful cobalt blue reminiscent of the famous Delft Blue pottery.

The Firewheel flower is a stunning round, spoked wheel-like flower of the Stenocarpus Sinuatus tree.

A muted palette of white, off white and this dark blue with a tiny bit of soft grey in the background. Black ink and gold leaf and collage add interest and depth.

This artwork is unstretched and ships rolled in a tube.
It will wrap around the stretcher with a neat painted edge when stretched.

Artist Bio

Australian artist Laurie Franklin (b. 1981) is an established, internationally collected painter known for her layering of paint and mixed media to create tactile works ranging from mountains, seascapes to florals and abstracted forms.

Laurie has sold 1000s of artworks since starting painting in 2002, artwork is displayed in hotels, restaurants and held collections in over 20 countries. Past hotel projects have included 200m of hand painted wallpaper and hundreds of original artworks for hotel suites.

Based in Melbourne, Australia she works from a large studio space allowing several artworks to be worked on simultaneously. She travels and undertakes Art residencies around the world, the changing scenery influences her unique approach to capturing the intrinsic character of the landscape . Her gestural style, tight color palette and use of metallic elements create tactile, intriguing artworks.
