International Classical Realist Artist (71). I have been an Artist all my life since early childhood and was lucky enough to win my first State of Victoria Gould League Prize for a Pen & Ink drawing of a Wedge Tailed Eagle, at the age of 11. I was also lucky enough to gain (among other subjects) an "Honours" Certificate in Art (and a Scholarship) in Form 3 (year 9) at Lake Bolac High School. I studied Fine Art in 1967 at the Bendigo Institute of Technology. Prior to that I also studied a Correspondence Diploma in Commercial Art through the Art Training Institute of Australia and Penmanship Exams while working as a Draftsman with the Marine Survey Office of the Ports & Harbors in Queenscliffe. I have spent my life mainly as an Artist and also an Architectural Designer and Illustrator. A great part of my life has been accepting Commissions in a wide variety of Subjects from Landscapes to Still Lifes Objects, etc., and particularly Portraiture and Figurative Works. I have worked in most mediums including Charcoal, Pastel, Water Colour, Pen & Ink and especially Oils, I mainly paint in a Classical Realist Technique with many Glaze Layers as in the Venetian Technique. As a Teenager I studied Anatomy (as Leonardo Da Vinci) and my main Influences are Leonardo Da Vinci, Titian, Vermeer, Caravaggio and the Australian Artist Norman Lindsay. I also like Dali, Rubens, Renoir, and Rodin. I have exhibited about 10 times ( have not had time to exhibit much due to my Commission commitments and my own Studio/Gallery for about 40 years). I have Exhibited in China in the late 1990's and my work is in about 30 Countries.
