Artist Bio

leah has had a passion for the artist and photography since she was a little kid. After university leah took part in several group exhibitions and has also had several solo exhibitions at various galleries including Umbrella studios, perc tucker regional gallery and the Queensland Centre of Photography.

Leah has also travelled extensively to develop her talent. She was one of four Australian artists chosen to travel to the Philippines in 2008 to take part in the Tutubing Bakal; a collaborative peace helicopter project sponsored by the Australian Embassy. She has also completed an internship at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art in 2011 and she has also attended the Venice biennale in 2009.

Whilst living in Townsville, leah worked as the installations officer for the Townsville City council at Perc tucker and Pinnacles galleries working closely with local and internal national artists in developing exhibitions.

Leah's passion is photography and she has explored the field extensively through both traditional film and digital mediums. Not just a point-and-shoot, leah has developed into the textures that different cameras and techniques offer to traditional portraiture, becoming an expert at capturing the moment 'between' the poses.

Leah has recently moved from remote Nhulunbuy in the NT to the remote Paraburdoo on the west coast. Her current body of work is exploring contemporary life in remote Australia.
