Artwork Description

Capturing the world around her with an eye for detail, 'Bushman's Clock' was created by Australian watercolour artist Leah Ramage and is one for the bird lovers. As an Australian native, the Kookaburra is an iconic Aussie animal much loved by so many locals and tourists. It is not until you travel outside of Australia that you truly appreciate the bird life we have at home amongst the gum trees.

Artist Bio

Leah Ramage is a self taught watercolour artist and through her distinct style she aims to capture moments and places, highlighting their simple beauties. Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Leah has built a deep connection with the ocean and draws inspiration from her natural surroundings.

Leah’s works push the boundaries of watercolour, magically capturing the transparency of water and fleeting moments. Australian culture is explored through coastal landscapes, ocean rock pools and moments of people captured doing everyday life. Watercolour and gouache on canvas are her current mediums of choice, while shape and colour are key elements in her artworks.

Her love for the ocean, and the wider natural world, is reflected in her commitment to educating audiences about sustainability and consumerism through art. She likes to think of her work as ‘art for purpose’, with 5% of her profits being donated to the Seabin Project.

Leah’s work has recently been exhibited at The Other Art Fair, Outfall Art Collective and The Studio at Careel Bay. Leah’s distinctive style – along with her creative energy and eye for detail – has made her a much-loved local artist, though the universal appeal of her work has seen it follow the ocean currents to captivate collectors around the world.
