Captivated

Inspired by the wild freedom and curiosity of my four children, Captivated is a reminder to fully embrace the present. As adults, we often forget to seek adventure in the ordinary and find joy in the mundane, but my series, Little Escapades, reminds me every day to pause and reflect on that childlike wonder.

I painted this from an accidental, candid photo of my second-born daughter, and it felt like such a special glimpse into her world. To strangers, she can take her time to show her true colours. But those who know her know that she is wildly playful and full of joy. This painting captures that beautiful balance of a quiet moment of wonder from a girl with a vibrant heart.
