Are you laughing at me?!

Two Australian laughing kookaburras.
The "laugh" that laughing kookaburras are known for is actually a territorial call but the name inspired me to put together this composition and the light hearted idea of one laughing at the other. Maybe one is telling the other a joke or they are sharing a funny story of their adventures?......
I have laughing kookaburras that visit my own garden and it is from my own reference photos that I have drawn these kookaburra characters. Drawn with artist quality coloured pencils on acid free hot pressed water colour paper.

My name is Leanne and I live in Sydney. I have a special interest in birds, Australian birds in particular. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a lot of birds in my own garden where I find a lot of my inspiration. While I did study visual arts at University and was able to explore many different mediums, my major at University was actually in metal work. Years after working in the jewellery industry I have returned to my love of creating two-dimensional art using coloured pencils and acrylic paints.
