Superb fairy wren with eucalyptus

Superb fairy wrens are native to Australia and are found across the south-east living in small groups. Here I have drawn an adult male superb fairy-wren with it's beautiful blue feathers perched on the gumnut of a eucalyptus branch.
I enjoy drawing in detail with coloured pencils and like to focus on the feather patterns. They are such pretty and delicate looking small birds with interesting patterns to draw. I wanted to focus on an Australian theme so have perched the wren on some of our iconic native eucalyptus.

Framed in sustainably sourced solid wood with premium grade acrylic handmade in Australia. Acrylic is used instead of glass for it's superior UV protection and shipping durability. Acid free matt and backing boards used.

My name is Leanne and I live in Sydney. I have a special interest in birds, Australian birds in particular. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a lot of birds in my own garden where I find a lot of my inspiration. While I did study visual arts at University and was able to explore many different mediums, my major at University was actually in metal work. Years after working in the jewellery industry I have returned to my love of creating two-dimensional art using coloured pencils and acrylic paints.
