Swift parrot

This is a drawing of an Australian Swift Parrot with Eucalypt leaves. Drawn with artist quality coloured pencils on paper.
The Swift Parrot is native to south eastern Australia. They breed in Tasmania during summer and migrate to south eastern mainland Australia in the winter. Unfortunately Swift Parrots are now listed as critically endangered due to loss of eucalypt habitat.

While I did sign this drawing on the front, my signature became hidden by the mat board once framed so I have signed it again on the back frame as pictured.

In keeping with the environmental theme of this drawing, it has been drawn on 300gsm toned paper which is made from 30% post consumer fibre. Framed in 100% recycled Australian timber (hand crafted in Australia with a raw finish). The frame is fitted with 2mm high quality acrylic which is 50% recycled and has over 90% UV protection and no difference in appearance compared to glass (and is more durable for shipping)

My name is Leanne and I live in Sydney. I have a special interest in birds, Australian birds in particular. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a lot of birds in my own garden where I find a lot of my inspiration. While I did study visual arts at University and was able to explore many different mediums, my major at University was actually in metal work. Years after working in the jewellery industry I have returned to my love of creating two-dimensional art using coloured pencils and acrylic paints.
