I'm a photography-based visual artist creating conceptual art and documentary images that investigate human behaviour and shared memories by drawing inspiration from natural and urban areas, and public and private spaces. Originally from the Nambucca Valley on Gumbaynggirr country, New South Wales, I was raised on land at the base of Mount Yarrahapinni where I developed a love for nature and connection to the bush, waterways, and the ocean. Since then I've resided in Queensland on Yuggera country for several years and practice art in my Ipswich home studio.
My photography practice began with black and white film and working in the darkroom and has developed into a much broader practice including digital photography and exploring alternative processes including photograms, cyanotypes (blueprints), pinhole and Lomography.
Artist residencies are a catalyst for me to discover new directions, and create new work, and I've been invited to several, including: Cataract Gorge Artist in Residence Program Launceston, Gunyah Artist in Residence Program Port Stephens, The Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio, Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre, and The Old School Mt Wilson Artist Residency Scholarship.
I hold a Bachelor of Photography from Griffith University, Queensland College of Art, where I studied art theory and majored in photographic art practice. I've exhibited for the past 18 years in solo and group exhibitions and have achieved several awards. My work has been shown in numerous exhibitions nationally and is held in public and private collections.
I'm a lifetime member of the Golden Key International Honour Society – Griffith Chapter for my achievements during my Bachelor degree at Griffith University, a member of NAVA (National Association for Visual Arts) and an accredited member of Flying Arts Alliance Inc.
