Cate Blanchett was a subject I couldn't resist for portraiture, given her astonishing ethereal looks that have led to her being chosen to play parts like Elizabeth I and Galadriel. There was never any doubt for me what the colour scheme should be: only these greys and blues were appropriate for such icy, unknowable beauty.
