While Iβve been painting since I was very young I began to take my artistic efforts a little more seriously when my wife organised a solo exhibition for me at my local community art gallery as a special birthday present back in 2007. I have worked in oils but acrylics provide a brightness and easy fluid nature that has captured my interest.
While I have painted some portraits and find the challenges of our anatomy compelling I really enjoy painting the natural landscape and celebrating the colours and light all around us. I like to imagine people looking at my paintings and feeling a breeze on their face from the scene in my landscape.
I think I may be moving toward a more stylised form of landscape art in the future and possibly combining human forms and landscapes to explore cultural storytelling. Whichever path that takes will be interesting.
