Leonard Alfred Birch was born and raised in Fremantle Western Australia, where at a very early age began drawing figures of his favorite cartoon characters. During this time, Leonard also began playing the Accordion and focused mainly on his schooling, and after completing Year 11, became a qualified sheet metal worker. Eight years later, Leonard decided that his love for Caring for the disabled and Aged was far more rewarding than metal work and so he moved toward helping those less fortunate than himself. A move he doesn't regret.
It wasn't until 2002 that he finally commenced Cert. IV in Visual Arts at the Kondinin Tafe in the wheatbelt of WA under the guidance and watch of a very well respected Art Teacher and Designer where during this time, Leonard painted and participated in a number of exhibitions, in and around the Kondinin and Narrogin area.
Leonard eventually moved to Albany WA, where he, after a long break from Art, due to care giving, has returned to his love of Art.
