Leon Holmes is a professional international award-winning Australian artist, lecturer and ambassador of Plein Air painting in the medium of oil.
Born and raised in Perth, Leon’s career started with a wide range of artistic fields including Printmaking, Graphic Design, Art Direction, Illustration and Photography. Since 2003, Leon is a professional artist who paints predominantly outdoors in the style of impressionistic realism, just like the old masters did. Here he has to work quickly to capture natural light and colour which gives his work dynamic and vibrancy. Larger studio works are inspired by these smaller outdoor studies and are created in his home studio in Mandurah.
Travelling is a big part of Leon’s career and he spends several months of the year abroad attending invitational art events in the US, Holland, Ireland and in his home country, where he is exhibiting and teaching alongside the Elite of Professional Plein Air artist from all over the world.
