Artwork Description

This is a ”triptych”, so these 3 paintings will individually stand alone, but together create an impressive scene. (width separately is 30cm, together is 90cm plus spaces between).

The influence of this painting was from Cable Beach in Broome when the sun had gone down and the tides go out such a long way. Sunsets over the coast only happen in our west. They are an amazing sight to see and become absorbed in.

This painting developed, changed and evolved over the 8 months it took to create it, and is a combination of brush and palette knife. It is textured in places with small ears of purposely cracked paint to show the underlying layers, providing an additional element of dimension to the viewer.

Artist Bio

Leoni Hines (born in Brisbane) now living in Maitland (just out of Newcastle), is an artist working predominantly in oils.

She can’t remember a time when art wasn’t a part of her life, growing up drawing and painting then studying under an incredible art teacher during high school years, helped develop her creative side.

Having a curious & loving relationship with colour and light, she is inspired by the Australian landscape with its ever-changing light and hues. Photography has also played an important part in her creative process capturing moments in time that can be used as a reference or idea for a painting.

Every painting she does contains a piece of her, her heart and soul. She may start off drawing what she sees, but inevitably ends up painting what she feels. She wants people to look at her art and feel the emotion that she has worked into it.

If they do, then she has been successful.
