Artist Bio

Inspiration is the force that guides my hand and leads me through an art project.
I had enjoyed painting landscapes and seascapes or flowers. I have explored watercolour, pastel and oil media in my art. Though at group art exhibitions I didn't quite like that my paintings are not very distinct from other artists' creations. I was also looking for ways to express myself better and share my inner world and dreams.
Thus, in February 2024 I started new series of Fantasy / Fairies paintings. Every one of them is an elaborate oil painting on linen. Despite a fantasy theme, it is a kind of realistic spiritual figurative art where I am exploring different aspects of ancient dreams like the dream of eternal youth and beauty, the dream of flying. Symbolically it is a detachment from realities and values of our world. Though, traditionally the imaginary world is resembling our own: it is not foreign to struggles for power and influence: there are opposing forces. Fate, love, friendship and attachment mean something there. Sometimes animals and birds are able to cross the border between two worlds. As depicted in my paintings it could create a friction when creatures of different worlds met.

In July 2025 I exhibited nine "Land Of Fairies" paintings at Artemisia Gallery. They were positively received across different age groups.
A record about the exhibition appeared in MutualArt. In September 2025 I was ranked by ArtFacts among the top 1,000,000 visual artists globally.

I was born and grew up in a small Jewish family in a beautiful city Lviv - an ancient cultural centre located in western Ukraine. In my childhood I did well in drawing classes at school. From age of 14 I used to do some fine quick pencil sketches. A creative activity was a strong tradition in my family. I was somewhat interested in science and after school decided to study engineering. I completed a diploma and then, a degree in engineering. As part of my studies, I was trained in technical drafting and calligraphy. In 1992 I moved to Australia. Studied again and then worked for few decades.

I retired from work in 2019 and soon after decided to do Art full time It was a life changing decision which greatly improved my quality of life. Over the years I changed subjects and preferred painting medium giving far more attention to create complex figurative artwork.

In 2023 - 2025 I taught art to NDIS's clients as a complementary part of an Art Therapy treatment. Some NDIS's staff/carers were also attending my art classes. At the end of 2025 the amount of the work start dwindling and in 2026 I have only done few filling in for another art class. On a positive side I have been able to fully focus on creating my art. My life painting activity becomes bigger, hence my human body studies more intense.

Bluethumb online Gallery is providing a great chance for my Art to be seen by public via Internet.
Hopefully I won't get discouraged any time soon and will create many artworks over next 10 -15 years.
