Artwork Description

On My Way to Cairns, captures the vibrant landscape encountered while driving into Cairns, Far North Queensland. The scene is rendered in a bold and expressive palette, with tree trunks in shades of blue and purple standing tall against lush green foliage. The ground is layered in yellow, green, and purple tones, suggesting the dynamic interplay of tropical light and shadow. Rather than a literal depiction, the work uses stylised colour and form to evoke the sensory experience of the journey—sunlight filtering through coastal vegetation, the vivid natural hues of the tropics, and the anticipation of arrival.
