The artwork features a detailed illustration of a stromb shell. It is a mixed media artwork consisting of etching medium and embroidery cotton. The etching emphasises its natural ridges and curves of the shell. Surrounding the shell is a blue zigzag pattern, evoking the sense of waves, which enhances the marine theme.

Leonie is a Queensland artist who explores a range of themes, predominantly the landscape. She completed her study in Visual Art at the Brisbane College of Art and continued her education becoming a Visual Art teacher. Leonie has exhibited her work at gallery spaces throughout Brisbane. In her practice she concentrates on painting and drawing but also explores printmaking and mixed media. She is inspired by her natural surroundings, usings vibrant colours to interpret nature. Leonie’s work focuses on colour, form and the emotional impact of the landscape and her connection with it.
