Treading the line between the abstract and the figurative, this piece is difficult to see as a portrait from a normal viewing distance. The black and grey was made my mixing primary colours and there is a base coat of bright red which shows through only when viewed close.
Looking at it from a distance, or in photos of you with the painting in the background, when the painted pixels become electronic ones and the painting becomes very small, the face becomes very clear. Squinting helps too. To be honest, squinting helps a lot when you are an artist.
