I live close to the site of the Australian Grand Prix in Albert Park, Melbourne. It takes months to assemble the track for a weeklong event then another couple of months to take it all away. This year, on my frequent walks I noticed and collected old bits of signs that had been cut up and used to level up the concrete barricades. They were half buried and filthy but, with a clean up I could see they still had a story or two to tell.
