The reference for ‘Goats’ was taken on a small plot of land in Sydney’s far-west. The owner of the land had a dozen or so Goats, healthy and beautiful, that would wait for you at the fence to feed them bread. Their stare was intense, patient yet firm. The midday sun caught the white sheen from their coats, and their gaze was captivating.
I utilised a photo of these Goats waiting for their meal, and attempted to capture the sharp eye-contact of the Goats to entice the viewer to stare back. Behind them, you can see some old storage sheds and equipment.
The painting would provide a subtle lift within a room, the Goats’ gaze offering a soothing and contemplative presence.
