Three little speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are Two green speckled frogs

Not far from our house thereโs a natural sandstone wall which is home to several Port Jackson Figs, Ficus rubiginosa. These giant trees have the most fascinating root systems and an uncanny way of hanging on to impossible spaces. At the bottom of one of these trees a man-made cement โpondโ which is somehow always filled with water. At various times during the year, one can peer into the dark water and see tadpoles shimming around. Early evenings, the frog opera begins. Surrounded by myriad plants: water primrose, water lilies, water ribbons, rushes, knotweed, and common reeds, the frogs have a lovely stage. A lovely piece for a child's room, or perhaps a garden atrium.
This whimsical piece was created using a variety of watercolour media, acrylic paint and ink. Other mediums are used with stencils to produce textures and reliefs. There are stamps of butterflies and dragonflies throughout the painting. The sides are painted a bright dark green. Itโs sealed and varnished with acrylic polymer.
