Artwork Description

This mixed media artwork was inspired by a visit to a small Buddhist temple in Bhutan. Two Women circled the temple several times, quietly reflecting as they walked and meditated in prayer. They were together, but reflecting alone. It was beautiful.

Various papers & mark making techniques were used to collage and paint this piece. It was a conversation with the artwork itself as colours and shapes merge together in creation. This artwork is made from professional quality acrylic paint and various quality mixed media materials on board. It is then finished with several layers of quality matt varnish to protect the piece.

Size: 85.5 Width x 1255 Height x 4.3 Depth (cm) including the frame 25mm.
Medium: Mixed Media on Board
Artwork is framed ready to hang

*Note: Frame in picture is indicative only. The frame is a wood look similar to the picture.

Artist Bio

Libby Mills is an artist based in northern New South Wales, Australia. Her work delves into the intricate relationship between self and the natural world using acrylic paint, and mixed media.

A significant part of her creative process involves spending time immersed in nature, where she engages in plein air painting, drawing, photography, and collecting natural objects. These experiences lay the foundation for her studio work, where she reworks ideas, draws from photographs, and experiments with paint application, guided by memory, intuition, and emotion.

Libby is particularly drawn to expressing the wonder and beauty qualities of a place, reimagining its atmosphere to evoke a sense of peace and serenity through her art. Through this reflective process, she explores her spiritual bond with the earth, translating it into a personal visual language that seeks both aesthetic beauty and emotional resonance. Her art fosters a dialogue on the importance of re-establishing our connection to the natural world, using her process of direct engagement with nature.

In 2024, she completed an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts from TAFE NSW, complementing her earlier studies at TAFE in Graphic Design.

To date, her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout North Eastern NSW, South East Qld, including Brisbane.

Libby was a founding director and active member of the Curious Art Co-Operative, which operated for over 10 years. Following this, she transitioned into retail and small business owner/management for more than a decade.

Recently, Libby has returned to her passion for art, focusing on fine art as she establishes herself as an emerging artist, actively engaging with the local and national Australian art community.
