Consisting of two artworks, the diptych Bushfire was painted very quickly (each piece in less than an hour, following priming and drying of base). I worked from a lush green photo I had taken of a scene which since burned. In the first piece, the short bold bright brushstrokes represent the violence and power of the flames. The second artwork evokes the space and emptiness; the aftermath of combustion.
