This piece is inspired by Marilyn Monroe and explores the humanity hidden within such an idolized individual. Everyone has their own connection to Marilyn, to celebrity and fame, so I leave this to audiences to decide what truth they find within the work. I believe what we each see reflects our own image, versus the person our friends and family don't get to see. Simultaneously, this work shows the beauty of imperfection. Ironically, the use of such a perfectly perceived individual as the subject for this piece highlights further how even the messiest, most abstract portrait can be stunning. This piece looks inside, and I hope its new owner may find something new upon every viewing.
