Confrontation

This piece emerged from a feeling of letting go and the complex process of forgiveness. It captures a confrontation between two opposing forces: one solid, controlled, and rigid; the other fragile, exposed, and vulnerable.

The composition explores the tension between holding on and surrendering. Its heavier, structured forms suggest protection, firmness, and the desire for control, while its softer elements carry a quiet call for release and forgiveness. The work considers the point at which strength becomes rigidity, and whether forgiveness can be understood not as weakness, but as a different form of strength.

Created with acrylic paint on stretched canvas, the artwork was developed gradually through layered colour, contrasting forms, visible brushwork, and variations in texture. Rather than offering a simple resolution, the final composition allows firmness and vulnerability to exist together.

I am a Brisbane-based multidisciplinary creative with a background in journalism. Before moving to Australia, I worked for several years as a reporter in the Middle East, telling people’s stories and advocating for their rights. Although my professional journey has since taken me across different industries, the desire to explore human experiences and tell meaningful stories remains central to who I am.

Today, I continue that storytelling through abstract art. I paint to understand myself, to heal, and to see the world from different perspectives.

My practice is an ongoing experiment with colour, texture, instinct, and emotion. I am drawn to abstraction because it gives me the freedom to explore beyond ideas of right and wrong, beauty and imperfection. I enjoy trying unfamiliar techniques, changing direction, making mistakes, and allowing each piece to become what it needs to be.

For me, art is a process of recovery, self-discovery, and making sense of the world around me—one experiment at a time.
