Artist Bio

Born in Ukraine and reside in Australia I'm artist with 20 year of experience in fashion, visual arts, paintings and graphic design with a number of awards and achievements. Lily studied fashion and graphic design in Kiev and Tel-Aviv. Initially she was employed at a large agency with the responsibility of designing interactive media until she soon became self-employed.
Lilys paintings are often classified as part of the new romantic movement because of the desire for the local in the unfolding globalized world. However, this reference is not intentional, as this kind of art is part of the collective memory. By referencing romanticism, and symbolism, she creates work through labour-intensive processes which can be seen explicitly as a personal exorcism ritual. They are inspired by a folk tradition, in which an ideal of ‘Fulfilled Absence’ was seen as the pinnacle.
