High Tea
High Tea is an invitation to pause.
This scene was inspired by 'The Rock Lookout', which is a rocky vista point overlooking the Blue Mountains and the Nepean River.
Bathed in warm afternoon light, a simple tea setting rests on broad stone steps overlooking a tranquil Australian landscape. Native Hardenbergia winds through the foreground, connecting with the surrounding bush and soft Blue Mountains beyond the Nepean River. The open composition encourages the viewer to imagine stepping into the scene and sharing a quiet moment of conversation or reflection.
Painted in oils, this work balances careful observation with a contemporary sensitivity to colour, atmosphere and space. Rather than focusing on detail alone, it seeks to evoke the feeling of slowing down and appreciating the small rituals that bring comfort and connection.
High Tea celebrates hospitality, nature and the gentle beauty found in everyday moments.
The inclusion of Hardenbergia reflects my exploration of Australian botanical subjects.
