Artwork Description

Inflorescence is a contemporary botanical work that explores the structure and rhythm of flowering forms rather than individual blooms. Multiple stylised flower heads emerge and cluster across a deep violet background, painted with loose, expressive brushwork and layered colour.
The piece balances observation with intuition, drawing attention to repetition, movement, and the natural order found in plant structures. It is a quietly energetic work that celebrates pattern, growth, and botanical form.

Artist Bio

Linda J. Ereaut Douglass is a contemporary Australian artist whose work is inspired by the richness and diversity of the Australian landscape. Working in oils and acrylics, she is drawn to the colour, light and distinctive forms of native flora, creating paintings that balance careful observation with personal interpretation.

Rather than working within a single visual style, Linda allows each subject to develop its own visual language. Her practice is driven by curiosity and an ongoing exploration of atmosphere, colour and the quiet character of Australia's botanical landscapes.

Working from her Sydney studio, Linda continues to explore gardens, bushland and native flora through a contemporary lens. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down, look more closely and discover the subtle beauty and complexity found in familiar places.
