Little Ballerinas

Little Ballerinas is inspired by the delicate beauty and graceful movement of Australian eucalyptus blossoms. Suspended amongst layers of flowing foliage, the tiny flowers appear almost weightless, their fine stamens suggesting dancers poised in quiet performance.

Rather than documenting the landscape literally, I was interested in exploring the rhythm created by overlapping leaves, twisting branches and shifting light. Layers of colour and expressive brushwork allow the familiar forms of the eucalyptus to become more abstract, inviting the viewer to pause and discover new relationships within the composition.

This painting celebrates the quiet elegance of Australia's native flora while offering a contemporary interpretation of the natural world.
