Dance of the Octopus

This small original artwork is on a stretched canvas with painted sides and is ready to hang. I have used acrylic paint, collage, drawing media and mark making tools to build up an interesting textured surface on the canvas. Through a gradual process of refinement, shapes, line, colour and value emerge creating a composition that invites discovery. Organic abstract forms appeared like objects floating above and below the sea. The curved negative space creates movement in and around the shapes like sea foam. Inspired by the ocean, I have used a coastal palette and finished the painting with a satin varnish. My aim is to invite viewers to look closer and to form their own connections with the artwork.

Lindy is a mixed media artist based on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Working intuitively with acrylic paint, collage and drawing media, she creates layered abstract works inspired by landscape, architecture and the visual patterns of everyday life.

Through a process of building, obscuring and revealing, Lindy develops compositions that balance spontaneity with structure. Line, shape, texture and colour become a visual language through which memories of place and observation are transformed into abstract forms.

With a background in art education and a longstanding exhibition history, Lindy continues to explore the possibilities of abstraction through experimentation, curiosity and an enduring love of the creative process.
