Eucalyptus Azure Flash

This lustrous, Australian native flora illustration features the young leaves of a Eucalyptus Mallee tree. The varying shades of blue and green leaves and silver stems sparkle due to the use of metallic watercolour.

Artwork is hand drawn using waterproof pigment liners, then select areas are painted with watercolour. Sections are intentionally left with no colour, to add a modern, design element. Coloured pencil helps to define, create detail and texture to each piece. High quality, 300gsm watercolour paper. Sprayed with permanent matt finish to protect the artwork.

A Graphic Designer for over 20 years and a desire to develop my artistic abilities has led me to focus on visual art. Finding a combination of design and art skills compliment each other. Inspired by Australia's diverse flora and fauna, these illustrations celebrate their unique beauty. Bushwalking and a native garden also strongly influence my pieces. Mediums include pigment liners, watercolour, coloured pencil, markers and gouache. Artwork is hand drawn and sections intentionally left without colour creating a design element. My originals have featured in solo and group art exhibitions and collectors are from Australia and overseas. Collaborating with publishing companies, several illustrations feature on greeting cards. I aim to continually develop and refine my style, to grow as an Australian artist.
