Koala Knockout

This illustration captures an iconic Australian mammal looking very relaxed in a gum tree bough. As the leaves have limited nutritional and caloric content, koalas often sleep up to 20 hours a day. Due to loss of habitat and food they are unfortunately disappearing.

Celebrating the beauty of this Australian native animal. Artwork is hand drawn using waterproof pigment liners, then select areas are hand painted with watercolour. Coloured pencil helps to define and give more detail to each piece. White gouache is used for highlights. High quality, 300gsm watercolour paper. Sprayed with permanent matt finish to protect the artwork.

A Graphic Designer for over 20 years and a desire to develop my artistic abilities has led me to focus on visual art. Finding a combination of design and art skills compliment each other. Inspired by Australia's diverse flora and fauna, these illustrations celebrate their unique beauty. Bushwalking and a native garden also strongly influence my pieces. Mediums include pigment liners, watercolour, coloured pencil, markers and gouache. Artwork is hand drawn and sections intentionally left without colour creating a design element. My originals have featured in solo and group art exhibitions and collectors are from Australia and overseas. Collaborating with publishing companies, several illustrations feature on greeting cards. I aim to continually develop and refine my style, to grow as an Australian artist.
