Red Capped Gum Fruit and Flower

This drawing of the Eucalyptus Erythrocorys (Red Capped Gum) features the old fruit on the tree, and also shows a recent flower. I wanted to contrast the colourful yellow flower and smooth young red stems and green leaves, with the rough textures of the old branch and gum nuts. There are several of these trees in our neighbourhood. They are bold stunning trees - both gnarly and showy.

I picked up the brush and pencils to work full time as an artist after I left my paid job in mid 2020. I graduated with Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) in 2025 and am now working across many mediums, including small sculpture pieces.
