I’m a Melbourne-based illustrator and artist whose work is defined by warmth, whimsy, and a strong sense of narrative. After graduating from Swinburne University in the 1990s with a degree in Graphic Design, I began my career as a children’s book illustrator. Since then, I’ve illustrated numerous titles across both educational and trade publishing, bringing stories to life through expressive characters and heartfelt visual storytelling.
Alongside illustration, my artistic practice has expanded into fine art. Working primarily in dry pastel, I’ve exhibited in both solo and group shows at Melbourne galleries including International Image, Richmond Galleries, and Art House Gallery. These works, like my illustrations, focus on character and emotion—but drawn from personal experience rather than a publisher’s brief. They depict whimsical figures and inner worlds that connect with audiences of all ages, often evoking a sense of nostalgia that feels both intimate and universal. Many of these works have found homes across Australia and internationally.
More recently, I’ve shifted to working with acrylic and mixed media on canvas, continuing my exploration of storybook-inspired imagery. My paintings aim to capture a fleeting thought, emotion, or moment—whether real, remembered, imagined, or dreamt—sometimes sparked by a song lyric, a memory, or simply my natural surroundings. I’m inspired by nature, birds, the sea, and the everyday beauty of my local environment. This visual language becomes a reflection of the inner world—something I believe we all share, in our own way.
While the materials have changed, the heart of my work remains the same: character-driven imagery that invites reflection, playfulness, and a sense of quiet wonder.
