Apple Study No.1

Once upon a time all I painted was still life, I used to love pears. As a child that is how I learnt to draw and paint, I would spend hours trying to perfect a bottle or piece of fruit. These days I am more fluid with my movements and enjoy painting with a palette knife. I have wanted to paint an apple for ages and today I finally got around to it.

I am an artist based in Wollongong, NSW, I grew up here between the mountains and the sea. My passion lies in painting with bright and bold colours, Australian native animals, especially birds make up a lot of my inspiration, though I also like to explore flora and still life subjects. I like to accentuate the hints of colour I see within my subject matter. I love painting with a palette knife and I use mainly acrylic paints on stetched canvas.

I love to add texture to the canvas with deliberate strokes that give the subject matter definition without it always being obvious. I am a full time artist working from my home studio on the South Coast. I find great inspiration from daily beach and bush walks and I can't imagine a life where I was not able to be creative everyday, and I feel truley blessed to be on this journey.
