Artwork Description

A moonbeam darts across the sky, the sun has just gone down and the moon is just peeping over the horizon. The sea is now darkening to a midnight grey, and soon stars will scatter across the sky as the whales dance with the waves and move with the seas, they surrender to the flow and let the rhythm of the water set their souls free.

I am fortunate enough to be able to watch the Humpback Whales migrate each season along the East Coat of Australia and what a wonderful sight it is.

This whale is painted on a large professional series deep edge stretched canvas with matching dark charcoal painted sides. My backgrounds are made of three layers of hand painted solid colour, I like to do this to make each piece look unique and not like it comes off a printing press.

The painting comes sealed in a satin finish, signed and ready to hang. The painting also comes with a Bluethumb Certificate of Authenticity. This painting will also come strung to be able to be hung in either vertical or horizontal orientation. I actually painted it vertically, but love it hanging horizontal.

Artist Bio

I am an artist based in Wollongong, NSW, I grew up here between the mountains and the sea. My passion lies in painting with bright and bold colours, Australian native animals, especially birds make up a lot of my inspiration, though I also like to explore flora and still life subjects. I like to accentuate the hints of colour I see within my subject matter. I love painting with a palette knife and I use mainly acrylic paints on stetched canvas.

I love to add texture to the canvas with deliberate strokes that give the subject matter definition without it always being obvious. I am a full time artist working from my home studio on the South Coast. I find great inspiration from daily beach and bush walks and I can't imagine a life where I was not able to be creative everyday, and I feel truley blessed to be on this journey.
